Job summary

Catholic Charities Boston is seeking Direct Care staff to oversee 24-hour shelter operations and support residents in a safe, respectful environment. You will greet visitors, respond to emergencies, complete daily logs, and ensure program policies are followed with professionalism.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, CPR certification, and ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Candidates should have strong organizational and interpersonal skills and be able to work nonstandard

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; 3–4 years in social services preferred.
• CPR certification required; recertification training provided.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Able to work with diverse populations with empathy and patience.
• Must be able to operate MS Office and Outlook for daily logs.
• Ability to physically respond to emergencies and lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Uphold the mission and ensure confidentiality at all times.
• Interact respectfully with visitors, employees, volunteers, and residents.
• Complete documentation, incident reports, and logs promptly.
• Follow program policies and report issues to the supervisor.
• Respond quickly to emergencies and communicate shifts handover.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly living environment.
• Perform house chores and assist with daily activities as needed.
• Adhere to house rules and safety procedures; assist with building checks.
