Job summary

RTR in Kingston, MA is seeking a full-time Residential Support Specialist to provide case management and direct care for individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. You will write progress notes, develop and implement behavior plans, supervise daily activities, manage transportation, and assist with medical appointments and medication administration.

A High School diploma and a valid driver’s license are required, with CORI background checks and trainings mandated by

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Education related to psychology, social work, special education, or related human service work preferred.
Valid Driver’s License.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and the internet.
Successful completion and maintenance of all state and agency mandated trainings, including medication administration.
Willingness to authorize a Criminal History Background Check (CORI) and release of information concerning relevant agencies.
Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made.

Responsibilities

Write monthly progress notes, Individual Support Plans, assessments and objectives for annual reviews, and all other paperwork related to caseload as requested by Residential Manager.
Attend and participate in all meetings and chart data collected from programs regarding individuals.
Assist with development of behavior plans or other intervention strategies.
Instruct, supervise and evaluate individuals in all areas of community living as outlined in each support plan and record data on all instructional programs.
Implement all behavior plan interventions as assigned. These interventions may include physical restraint.
Maintain valid Driver’s License and provide transportation as required by program.
Assist individuals in scheduling and attending medical appointments and document accordingly.
Administer medications, as required, in accordance with medication administration procedures.
Schedule and attend social and leisure activities such as family gatherings, religious celebrations, community events, and social gatherings.
Maintain residence and yard in clean, orderly condition as outlined by Manager.
Provide personal care support as needed (diet, exercise, meals, bathing, dressing, toileting, etc.).
Assist with transfers and mobility as needed.
Adhere to agency safety standards and RTR policies.
Write reports, including daily shift reports and other documentation.
Attend required meetings and participate in on-the-job training and coaching of new staff.
Perform additional duties as required, including snow/ice removal and general upkeep.
