Vinfen in Lowell, MA seeks compassionate professionals to provide support to persons served in Vinfen settings and to teach skills for independence and quality of life.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a human services setting preferred (1–3 months).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license if driving is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old if driving.
  • Clean driving record and background check for driving.
  • MAP, Safety Care, First Aid, and CPR certifications as required.

  • Provide support to persons served in Vinfen settings.
  • Teach skills to enhance independence and quality of life.
  • Develop, implement, and document individual treatment support plans.
  • Provide rehabilitative and behavioral interventions and monitoring.
  • Schedule appointments and monitor progress.
  • Provide transportation and other related support.
  • Model and support behaviors and assist with community integration.
  • Assess physical and emotional status and report changes to a supervisor.
  • Ensure program site safety and maintenance.
  • Assist with daily living activities, including housekeeping and meal prep.
  • Comply with policies, safety practices, and universal precautions.
  • Store, administer, document, and dispose of medication per MAP requirements.
  • Complete logs, timesheets, and forms.
  • Perform crisis intervention as needed.
  • Maintain current contact information with supervisors.

Job description

  • Provide support to persons served in Vinfen settings
  • Teach skills to enhance independence and quality of life
  • Develop, implement, and document individual treatment support plans
  • Provide rehabilitative and behavioral interventions and monitoring
  • Schedule appointments and monitor progress
  • Provide transportation and other related support
  • Model and support behaviors and assist persons served with community integration
  • Assess physical and emotional status and report changes to a supervisor
  • Ensure program site safety and maintenance
  • Participate in daily living and housekeeping activities, including cooking, meal planning, grocery shopping, lawn mowing, snow shoveling, and garbage removal
  • Comply with corporate and divisional policies, safe work practices, workers’ compensation, universal precautions, and exposure control
  • Store, administer, document, and dispose of medication according to MAP requirements, funding source regulations, and company policy
  • Complete communication logs, community membership logs, chore schedules, timesheets, and application forms
  • Perform crisis intervention as needed
  • Maintain current contact information with the Relief Pool Coordinator or Human Resources
  • Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
  • One to three months experience in a human services setting; in some cases, experience may be substituted for academic training
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Valid driver's license must be presented at employment if driving
  • Must be at least 21 years of age if driving
  • Must have maintained a valid US driver's license for at least six months if driving
  • Must pass a driver’s screening background check if driving
  • Must maintain a safe driving record if driving
  • Adequate insurance required when using a personal vehicle
  • First Aid required within two weeks of hire
  • CPR required within two weeks of hire
  • MAP required within 150 days of hire
  • Safety Care required within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, sit, reach, climb stairs, and maneuver through narrow spaces or hallways
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or a two-person lift
  • Ability to operate a computer and office equipment including a calculator, copier, and printer
  • Ability to assist clients with tasks of daily living
  • Ability to speak, hear, and communicate with clients, staff, and external representatives
  • Specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, plus ability to adjust focus
  • Knowledge and use of advocacy, communication, empowerment, self-advocacy, physical personal management, household management, and crisis intervention techniques
  • Sensitivity to cultural, religious, racial, disability, and gender issues
  • Teaching skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
