Job Summary

The Center for Human Development (CHD) seeks dependable Direct Care Staff in the Springfield, MA area and surrounding towns. Direct Care Staff work in a supportive residential environment for developmentally disabled adults living in a community-based group home. Many Direct Care Staff have prior experience as Home Health Aids, Personal Care Assistants, Certified Nursing Aids, or caregivers to family members.

Schedule and Compensation

This is a part-time opportunity. Must be flexible to work a 2nd shift schedule, 3 pm–11 pm, including weekends. Pay rate: $20.00 /hr. Candidates that hold active MAP certification will receive a $250 bonus. Benefits include dental, health and life insurance, paid time off, earned vacation time, and paid holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including personal care such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and maintaining personal hygiene.
• Administer medication as needed (training provided).
• Advocate for individuals in community settings.
• Build professional supportive relationships with individuals, offering informal guidance while maintaining appropriate boundaries to ensure a respectful and safe environment.
• Provide opportunities to optimize their independence.

Requirements

• Completed medication administration training (MAP certification).
• Previous experience working with individuals with dementia or behavioral complexities is highly encouraged.
• All candidates must pass a background record screening process.
• Must have a vehicle for work use and a current driver’s license.
• Current First Aid, CPR and MAP certification preferred.
