Job summary

Brookdale is seeking a dining services Cook to develop and supervise kitchen operations in a continuing care environment. You will plan menus, control food costs, and oversee preparation to meet Brookdale procedures, while training staff and ensuring food safety standards.

The role requires weekend shifts, schedule coordination, and collaboration with kitchen and dining teams to deliver quality resident meals and a positive dining experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two to four years experience in commercial kitchen, operation and line cooking, and/or training; or equivalent mix of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Develops standards for organization and supervision of dining services.
• Maintains quality dining services within the prescribed budget.
• Determines quality and quantity of food required; plans menus and controls food costs; may be scheduled to prepare meals.
• Oversees the food preparation and cooking to ensure meals are prepared per procedures.
• Prepares cleaning schedule, production worksheet and staff schedules.
• Maintains inventory of food and nonfood items.
• Trains new employees in department and delegates authority to dining services staff.
• Develops and directs cost control system; submits department budget to director.
• Provides nutrition education and counseling for residents; presents dining services education program.
