Position Summary

Our Manager-In-Training (MIT) program offers a comprehensive, approximately twenty-week, interactive training experience, including:

  • General Training & Comprehension: Learn roles of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher; operate industrial kitchen equipment.
  • Leadership Development: Lead small teams in food prep, service, and cleanup.
  • Policies & Procedures: Ensure food quality, safety, and compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Reporting: Maintain records of income, expenditures, and inventory.
  • Training & Quality Control: Oversee staff training, quality, and safety standards, including performing essential job functions.
  • Leadership: Manage payroll, staffing, coaching, discipline, purchasing, and budgeting.
  • Communication: Convey directives effectively to staff.
  • Safety: Use PPE, handle cleaning solutions safely, report issues, and follow infection control protocols.
  • Punctuality: Maintain consistent attendance and respond promptly to communication.
  • Customer & Resident Experience: Interact courteously and tactfully to foster positive relationships.
Qualifications
  • Positive attitude, ability to follow instructions, perform routine tasks.
  • Leadership skills post-training, with a focus on safety and injury prevention.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in relevant fields preferred.
  • Food safety management training and certification required within first 14 days.
  • Certification as a Dietary Manager or equivalent as per law.
  • Achieve Food Service Manager (FSM) and Long-Term Care Food Service (LTC-FSM) certifications within 60 days.
  • Experience in food production/service and supervision preferred.
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.
  • Ability to complete sanitation and safety courses if required.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality essential.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies.
  • Physical ability to lift, push, stand, sit, and perform routine tasks.
  • Residence within the service area required.
