Job summary

University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking an Associate Director of Dining Services to lead UMass Catering and Campus Center Blue Wall operations. You will supervise multi-unit teams, develop budgets, and shape menus and service quality in a large campus dining environment.

Reporting to the Director of Residential Dining, you will drive programs in marketing, safety, and guest satisfaction while ensuring compliance with university policies and state regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in hospitality, business, marketing, or related field.
• At least five years of management experience in hospitality.
• Experience in sales and marketing, event planning, budgeting, and supervision.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate across outlets.
• Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
• ServSafe and Alcohol Serving certificate compliance within hire window.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to work nights/weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Leads and supervises staff and plans, develops, and delivers services for UMass Catering and Campus Center Blue Wall.
• Oversees personnel actions, sets performance goals, and maintains staffing levels.
• Creates and monitors budgets for food and labor; uses KPIs to measure business.
• Develops annual business and marketing plans and policies for profitability.
• Oversees food prep, service, inventory, and product logistics across outlets.
• Drives improvements in operational efficiency and safety/compliance programs.
• Directs daily meal counts, temperature charts, and smallwares inventory.
• Ensures high-quality, nutritionally balanced meals and guest satisfaction.
• Coordinates with other departments and manages student labor budgets.
• Represents UMass Catering in campus/community engagements.
