Job summary

University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking an Assistant Manager Catering Operations to serve as the primary operational support to the Catering Manager. You will plan and execute catering logistics, oversee scheduling, transportation, BEO preparation, and ensure day-to-day operational administration.

You will collaborate with Catering Sales, Culinary Operations, Front-of-House staff, drivers and campus partners, supervise staff, manage event readiness, and lead in the Catering Manager's

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 7+ years related experience.
• Associate's degree and 5 years related experience.
• Bachelor's degree and 1 year related experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee catering logistics and day-to-day operations.
• Develop schedules and coordinate staffing for events.
• Manage Banquet Event Order (BEO) preparation and planning meetings.
• Supervise staff including student workers and drivers.
• Coordinate transportation logistics and equipment needs.
• Ensure food safety and departmental standards.
• Communicate with Catering Sales and campus partners.
• Utilize dining software to manage orders and reports.
• Provide interim leadership during manager absence.
