Job summary

The University of Dayton Dining Services is hiring a full-time food service worker for the Kennedy Union area to greet customers, stock counters, prepare beverages and food items, wash and store dishes, and maintain cleanliness.

The role requires English communication, ability to lift up to 40 pounds, and a swing shift of 1:30pm-9:00pm (KU) or 3:15pm-10:45pm (VWK), totaling 35 hours per week with weekends and holidays possible. Emphasis on food safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or equivalency.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Must be able to exert well paced mobility for periods of up to four (4) hours.
• Must have the ability to lift equipment and supplies up to 40 pounds in weight.
• Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, and use finger dexterity for periods up to four (4) hours at a time.
• Must be able to stand for up to four (4) hours at a time.
• Must be able to listen attentively and comprehend verbal instructions in English.
• Must be able to visually differentiate colors for the purposes of food safety.
• Must be able to work when exposed to wet floors, temperature extremes and loud noise.
• Must be able to work independently with the appropriate amount of supervision.

Position Summary:

Position Summary: Performs a variety of duties related to food service and sanitation in a timely and efficient manner including but not limited to; greeting and serving customers, stocking counters and serving areas, preparing and replenishing beverages and food items, washing and storing properly all dishes, trays, eating utensils, cups, pots and pans. Maintains work station, other food service areas and equipment to meet cleanliness and food safety standards. Assist with preparation of items used in recipes. Assist others as directed. Must be able to effectively communicate (written and spoken) directly with other employees and staff members in English in a pleasant and professional manner. May be assigned to various or specifics areas based on operational needs. May assist with processing GET orders (Reads tickets to add condiments, beverages, desserts to order, plastic wear, takes order to appropriate pick up area.)

Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

• *Six months of experience working in food service.
• *Demonstrates a professional demeanor.
• *Successful experience assisting customers
• *Experience working with students and a diverse multi cultural staff and customers.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The University does not provide work visa sponsorship for this position.

35 hours per week. SWING SHIFT based on operational needs. Primary 1:30pm-9:00pm-KU, 3:15p-10:45p-VWK. Must be able to work weekends and holidays. Schedule may vary for special events.
