Job summary

The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a part-time Dining Room Server in Columbus, OH. You will greet guests, take orders, and provide a full-service restaurant experience, while coordinating with restaurant staff to ensure a seamless dining experience.

Responsibilities include taking orders, serving meals promptly, presenting the bill, and handling reservations. A background in customer service and familiarity with OpenTable are preferred to deliver exceptional guest service.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of restaurant experience.
• State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).

Responsibilities

• Takes meal orders accurately, asking questions when necessary and repeats the order back to ensure accuracy.
• Serve guests food in a timely manner and check back to ensure satisfaction.
• Present the check promptly, collect payment, and provide receipts.
• Greet and seat guests, clear and reset tables, take reservations, and maintain OpenTable information as needed.
• Help maintain exceptional guest service and support staff to monitor dining experience.

Compensation Type: Hourly

Compensation: $15.00

The Dining Room Server greets guests after being seated at tablesof Degrees restaurant, focusing on the importance of customerservice. This position informs guests of any specials or pertinentinformation for the day; answers any questions about menus,including alcoholic beverages; and provides a full-servicerestaurant experience to guests. This role communicates withmanagement, culinary staff, and host with pertinent information andmaintains an open report with guests and staff alike.

Customer Service

• Takes meal orders accurately, asking questions when necessary,and repeating the order back to ensure everything is correct.
• Serve guests food in a timely manner and check back with guestto ensure that everything is satisfactory to the guests.
• Presents the check in a timely manner and ensures that paymentis taken, and the guests receives their paid receipt.
• Greets and seats guest, helps clear and reset tables, takesreservations, and helps maintain correct information in the OpenTable system, if necessary.
• Helps the restaurant staff in achieving exceptional guestservice and employee satisfaction results, helping to monitorguests dining experience.

Facility & Operations

• Helps maintain a clean and safe working environment, withcontinual emphasis on guest service.
• Assists in training new staff in proper execution of the serverposition.
• Stays continually informed about any upcoming or current eventshappening in Mitchell Hall.
