Mary's Woods is seeking a Dining Room Manager to lead FOH dining operations, hire and train staff, and ensure top-quality service for a senior living community in Lake Oswego, OR. The role emphasizes hospitality, teamwork, and adherence to privacy rules while managing budgets and payroll.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years in management/supervision of restaurants, hotels, or retirement community facilities.
  • Minimum three years in restaurant/food service industry.
  • Education/experience equivalent to high school diploma or GED.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day Front of House operations in designated dining areas within budgetary and labor parameters.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of employee relations, ethics, food sanitation, safety, and labor laws.
  • Interview, select, train, supervise, counsel, and discipline FOH staff.
  • Prepare staff schedules, track attendance, review payroll, and monitor daily sales.
  • Monitor food quality and service standards; seek feedback for improvements.
  • Ensure adherence to high-quality food service and safety regulations.
  • Control payroll and equipment costs; track inventory; develop cost-saving measures.
  • Organize pre-shift and departmental meetings to enhance communication.
  • Comply with HIPAA privacy requirements and resident rights rules.
  • Demonstrate initiative in task assignment, delegation, and issue resolution.
  • Foster teamwork with staff, residents, and families; promote inclusivity.

Job description

Mary's Woods is looking for a Dining Room Manager with exceptional communication and customer service skills to join our Dining Services team.The responsibilities of the Dining Room Manager include hiring, training, overseeing and assessing staff to maintain high levels of service and hospitality. The Dining Room Manager is also accountable for the daily operations of the dining areas and ensuring exceptional service. This role requires a dynamic individual with strong leadership skills, a passion for hospitality, and a commitment to the organization's mission.

Mary's Woods is a non-profit senior living community founded in 2001. We offer independent living, assisted living, memory care and residential care in a park-like setting on 40 acres in Lake Oswego. Below are some of the core responsibilities, experience and skills needed to be successful:

  • Control payroll and equipment costs, track inventory, order and develop cost‑saving measures
  • Organize and conduct pre‑shift and departmental meetings to facilitate effective communication
  • Understand, comply with, and advocate for all rules regarding resident rights and adhere strictly to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy requirements
  • Demonstrate initiative and judgment in task assignment, delegation, and issue resolution
  • Relate positively to staff, residents, and families, fostering teamwork across all levels
  • Create an environment that acknowledges, encourages and celebrates differences
  • Seek opportunities to gain experience working and collaborating in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings with a willingness to change for continual improvement
Education and Experience Required:
  • Minimum of two years of experience in management and/or supervision of restaurants, hotels, or retirement community facilities
  • Minimum of three years of experience in the restaurant or food service industry
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to the completion of a high school diploma or GED
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint)

The starting wage depends on experience, certification and education. This is a full-time, exempt position and will include working weekends and holidays.
