Job summary

New America seeks a visionary Digital Director to shape and lead digital communications strategy across its website, publishing tools, and data storytelling platforms. You will guide a multi-disciplinary team, partner with stakeholders, and oversee governance, analytics, and responsible AI initiatives.

Reporting to the VP of Content and Communications, you will advance audience growth, engagement, and measurable impact while maintaining accessibility, privacy, and brand standards across channels.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years of relevant experience, including at least three years managing staff.
• Experience developing and implementing an organization-wide digital strategy.
• Significant experience leading digital product development, website management, or a related function.
• Experience managing external agencies, consultants, or technology partners.

Responsibilities

• Set the vision and strategy for New America’s website, digital publishing tools, audience-development channels, and data visualizations/interactive storytelling capabilities.
• Develop and oversee a digital product roadmap that aligns organizational goals, audience needs, and available resources, with accessibility, UX, privacy, performance, and SEO in mind.
• Lead product-development processes involving internal stakeholders and external vendors.
• Identify opportunities to expand interactive storytelling and data-visualization capabilities to increase reach and impact.
• Evaluate digital systems and make budget, staffing, technology, and vendor recommendations.
