Job summary

New America is seeking a Digital Director to lead digital strategy, website management, and data-driven storytelling within its Central Communications team. You will shape a roadmap, mentor a four-person digital staff, and drive audience growth with a focus on accessibility, analytics, and responsible AI.

The role reports to the VP of Content and Communications, collaborates across departments, and aims to turn foundational investments into sustained impact while maintaining a high-quality brand

Qualifications

• Eight years of relevant professional experience, including at least three years managing staff.
• Experience developing and implementing an organization-wide digital strategy.
• Significant experience leading digital product development, website management, and related functions.
• Experience mentoring multidisciplinary staff and building collaborative teams.
• Ability to develop product roadmaps, prioritize needs, and lead complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Set the vision and strategy for New America’s website, digital publishing tools, audience-development channels, and data visualizations/interactive storytelling capabilities.
• Develop and oversee a digital product roadmap aligned with goals, audience needs, and resources, while ensuring accessibility, UX, privacy, performance, and SEO best practices.
• Lead product-development processes with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
• Expand interactive storytelling and data-visualization capabilities to increase reach and impact.
• Evaluate digital systems and advise on budget, staffing, technology, and vendor needs.
