Job summary

UC Santa Cruz is seeking a skilled Library Technician to support the Library Center for Digital Scholarship. The role focuses on equipment management, student supervision, and public service across the DSC and DSI spaces, contributing to inclusive digital scholarship programs.

The position emphasizes teamwork, problem solving, and proactive communication with librarians, IT staff, and student workers, with a 100% on-site schedule and full benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience / training.
• Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and use equipment such as cameras, audio gear, 3D printers, or laser cutters.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for diverse user groups.
• Experience leading or supervising staff or student workers is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Library Management System records for Digital Scholarship equipment and stay current with best practices.
• Manage equipment ordering and inventory for the DSC and DSI via CruzBuy and OneCard.
• Supervise Digital Scholarship student leads and ensure safety and policy compliance.
• Oversee safe equipment use and coordinate with campus safety teams to meet standards.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment; research solutions and coordinate with vendors.
• Update websites related to equipment and spaces and support new technology deployment.
• Serve as a point of contact for Library ITS regarding space needs and software updates.
• Provide on-site user services and training related to digital scholarship tech.
