Digital Manufacturing Engineer

Join HARTING, a leader in connectivity products and custom solutions. We are seeking a Digital Manufacturing Engineer (based in Elgin, Illinois) to collaborate with global and regional teams on digital solutions in IIOT/SC/OT. Reporting to the Digitalization and Automation Lead, you will help further digitalize our manufacturing facility.

HARTING aims to be a trusted advisor to customers and a go-to source for industrial connectivity solutions. We partner with OEMs and distribution channels on standard and value-added products, as well as product development initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing technical projects: requirements, budgets, timelines, changes.
  • Utilizing technology to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Leading workshops to understand and document manufacturing requirements.
  • Developing, deploying, and supporting manufacturing systems like MES, QMS, PLCs, SCADA, Data Historians, CMMS, and computer vision.
  • Programming in OT languages such as Python, JavaScript, C#.
  • Working with SQL databases, writing complex queries.
  • Implementing OT integration technologies like OPC and MQTT.
  • Designing cloud-based data analytics and reports.
  • Integrating OT systems with enterprise solutions via REST API.
  • Travel up to 10%.
Skills and experience required:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or Industrial Technology.
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing experience supporting operations technology.
