Job Description Summary

The Digital Control Systems Engineering Manager is responsible for managing and developing project technical resources to support the project managers' team during project execution. She/he defines, plans, and implements the delivery model for SCADA, Substation Automation, Substation Networks, and Integrated Energy Management Solutions engineering, along with associated site services activities, in close collaboration with Project Management, Protection & Control, and Packaged Solutions Engineering teams. She/he manages an engineering team and ensures the availability of skilled resources.

Job Description

Main Engineering Tasks include:

  1. Manage engineering team, define team strategy, setup, and Key Performance Indicators.
  2. Maintain high standards in project engineering, efficiency, and on-time delivery as per EMH rules.
  3. Track and manage resource utilization in conjunction with the Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure efficiency and demand fulfillment.
  4. Develop Substation Automation Services offerings to contribute to GA service and solutions growth.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engineering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Analyze and utilize our automation portfolio options including DS Agile, IEMS, G500, GPG, D20, etc.
  • Coach the engineering team and develop individual and team skills.
  • Collaborate closely with the tendering team to support tender estimations and post-delivery feedback.
  • Ensure resource optimization and adequate support to customer projects.
  • Develop and qualify external resource contractors to augment skillsets and manage peak loads.
  • Interface with internal and external customers for key projects and technical issue resolution.
  • Ensure full utilization of defined Product Line engineering tools, contribute to continuous improvement through sharing enhancements and best practices.
  • Define engineering and delivery model strategies for Substation Automation, IEMS, and site services activities.
  • Develop and manage Installed Base data to identify opportunities with the Commercial team.
  • Support interface with central operations and engineering teams for technical priority management.
  • Actively contribute to Customer Complaints resolution.
  • Lead EHS/Safety actions, ensure compliance with GE rules and processes, and ensure engineering teams are properly trained and qualified.
  • Follow GE Vernova compliance policies and promote open reporting.
  • Support the Commercial team with feedback and engineering cost optimization.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Experience in Automation activities with engineering and business knowledge.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Electricity and Automation engineering.
  • Knowledge of Electricity Transmission, Distribution, and Industrial markets.
  • Understanding of network communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC, DNP3, IEC61850.
  • Knowledge of cyber asset protection regulations including NERC CIP and NIST.
  • Ability to manage and motivate an engineering team.
  • Autonomy and rigor in work approach.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Willing to travel approximately 30% of the time.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science and P. Eng certification.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment.
  • Proven leadership in project structures.
  • Strong business acumen, execution-driven, familiar with process implementation, PM metrics, and teamwork.
  • Expertise in engineering reporting and operations.
  • Energetic, positive, and proactive individual passionate about operational challenges.
