Everforth Apex Systems is seeking a Digital Mid BackEnd Java Developer in Merrifield, Virginia (Hybrid) to help shape the technical direction of a Digital Banking platform. You will work with Engineering, Architecture, Security, and Product teams to build scalable, secure, and resilient solutions.

You will dive into code, analyze architecture, and drive modernization while prioritizing security and best practices across the software lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of software engineering principles and modern application architecture.
• Ability to read, understand, and analyze source code, with a high preference for Java experience.
• Experience with APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud‑native applications.

Responsibilities

• Dive into application code and architecture to understand functionality and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Perform technical analysis across applications, APIs, integrations, and services to solve complex engineering challenges.
• Influence technical decisions that improve scalability, resiliency, and long‑term sustainability.
• Partner with engineering teams to review solution designs and implementation approaches.
• Identify technical debt and help prioritize improvements that create lasting value.
• Champion secure coding practices and help ensure applications are designed with security from the start.
• Evaluate technologies, frameworks, and architectural patterns to support modernization initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to establish engineering standards and technical best practices.
• Support cloud adoption, platform modernization, and application lifecycle improvements.
• Create technical documentation, design guidance, and knowledge artifacts.
