Job summary

Everforth Apex Systems is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead a consumer banking and payment applications team. You will provide hands-on technical leadership across Java back-end and mobile banking efforts, mentor engineers, and enhance software quality through code reviews and architectural input.

You will collaborate with product and engineering leaders, own development efforts, and ensure scalable, secure delivery. Travel to San Antonio a few times per quarter is expected in this hybrid role.

Qualifications

Minimum 6 years of software engineering experience.
Strong Java development experience and prior lead-level responsibilities.
Experience with APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
Banking, payments, financial services, or fintech background preferred.
Proven ability to review code and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

Lead development for consumer banking and payment applications.
Design and deliver new payment capabilities, including wire functionality.
Review code and mentor engineers to promote engineering excellence.
Serve as the primary technical escalation point for the team.
Collaborate across Java, iOS, and Android teams; participate in architecture decisions.
Ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions; translate business requirements into technical solutions.
