Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician to provide safe, compassionate, patient-centered care under licensed nurse supervision. You’ll take vital signs, monitor telemetry, document in real time, and communicate clearly with patients and families during handoffs.

Must have HS diploma or equivalent; CNA/Health Support Professional training preferred, with prior PCT/CNA experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Certification as CNA or Health Support Professional preferred.
• Previous Patient Care Tech or CNA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take vital signs and blood sugars; document accurately in real time.
• Communicate patient information to RN and team at handoffs.
• Maintain patient privacy and safe environment by following privacy practices.
• Assist in daily department tasks and organize workload around patient needs.
• Screen for changes in patient condition and escalate promptly to nurses.
• Follow safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions or incidents.
• Support department: Digestive Health Center with telemetry duties as assigned.
