Job summary

Care Initiatives is seeking a Dietary Service Manager to lead the daily operations of our dietary department across our Iowa communities. This full-time role focuses on meal preparation, sanitation, staffing, adherence to physician orders and individualized care plans, and cost controls to maintain quality service.

You will supervise and coach dietary staff, coordinate ordering and inventory, and collaborate with clinical teams to meet resident nutritional needs while ensuring high satisfaction

Qualifications

• Completion of State-approved Food Services Supervisor Course is required.
• ServSafe Certification is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience in healthcare dietary settings is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the dietary department including meal prep, service, sanitation and staffing.
• Ensure residents receive nutritious meals per physician orders and individualized care plans.
• Supervise, coach and support dietary team members to ensure quality service and teamwork.
• Manage food ordering, inventory, budgeting and cost controls for efficient operations.
• Collaborate with other departments to support resident nutritional needs and satisfaction.

What You’ll Do & Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily operations of the dietary department, including meal preparations, service, sanitation, and staffing
• Ensure residents receive nutritious meals that meet physicians' orders, dietary restrictions, and individualized care plans
• Supervise, coach, and support dietary team members to promote quality service and teamwork
• Manage food ordering, inventory, budgeting, and cost controls to ensure efficient department operations.
• Collaborate with department teams to support resident nutritional needs and satisfaction.

Qualifications:

• Documented completion of State-approved Food Services Supervisor Course.

• Certified Food Protection Manager and ServSafe® Certification preferred.
• Demonstrated skills in quantity food preparation and service.
• Willingness to complete training in Food, Safety, Sanitation and Modified Diets.
• Experience in a healthcare dietary setting a plus!
