Job summary

Care Initiatives is seeking a Dietary Service Manager to oversee the dietary department across our skilled nursing communities in Iowa. You’ll manage daily operations, ensure meals meet physician orders and dietary plans, supervise staff, handle inventory, and support cost controls while delivering compassionate, resident-centered service.

The ideal candidate holds a State-approved Food Services Supervisor Course, and has strong leadership, food safety training, and healthcare dietary

Qualifications

• Must have proven ability to oversee daily dietary operations and staff.
• Strong understanding of quantity food preparation and service.
• Willingness to complete training in Food Safety, Sanitation and Modified Diets.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the dietary department, including meal preparations, service, sanitation, and staffing.
• Ensure residents receive nutritious meals that meet physicians' orders, dietary restrictions, and individualized care plans.
• Supervise, coach, and support dietary team members to promote quality service and teamwork.
• Manage food ordering, inventory, budgeting, and cost controls to ensure efficient department operations.
• Collaborate with department teams to support resident nutritional needs and satisfaction.

What You’ll Do & Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily operations of the dietary department, including meal preparations, service, sanitation, and staffing


• Ensure residents receive nutritious meals that meet physicians' orders, dietary restrictions, and individualized care plans

Qualifications:

• Documented completion of State-approved Food Services Supervisor Course.

• Certified Food Protection Manager and ServSafe® Certification preferred.


• Demonstrated skills in quantity food preparation and service.


• Willingness to complete training in Food, Safety, Sanitation and Modified Diets.


• Experience in a healthcare dietary setting a plus!
