Position Summary

The Dietary Manager is a key leadership position responsible for the successful operation of Dining Services. The Dietary Manager actively prepares meals and manages the operations of the Dining Services Department, including staffing, food ordering and accountability, preparation, menu planning, food delivery, and sanitation, in accordance with health department regulations. The Director ensures client and customer satisfaction through efficient, cost-effective management that exceeds expectations and helps maintain a positive physical and social environment for residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Supervise, assign duties, and direct all food service department employees, with full accountability for dining services.
  2. Maintain equipment and work areas, adhere to infection control, sanitation, and safety procedures, and maintain food costs within budget. Control inventory strictly.
  3. Exercise independent judgment and discretion.
  4. Interview, recommend hiring, and orient new staff.
  5. Create and manage staff schedules, considering employee requests and operational needs.
  6. Track attendance and administer disciplinary actions when necessary.
  7. Communicate and enforce policies, including employee conduct, safety, and sanitation policies, and enforce disciplinary measures.
  8. Evaluate employee performance and recommend employment changes as needed.
  9. Conduct quarterly dietary QA audits.
  10. Plan menus in coordination with primary care providers, medical staff, and residents. Organize special events as needed.
  11. Ensure meals are prepared according to recipes, are nutritious and appealing, and are presented attractively. Manage food storage, defrosting, and preparation following safety procedures.
  12. Provide excellent customer service to residents, staff, and visitors.
  13. Perform duties courteously and professionally, prioritizing resident safety and satisfaction.
  14. Greet visitors warmly and answer phones professionally.
  15. Ensure compliance with residents’ rights and all relevant regulations.
  16. Ensure staff attend required trainings and provide in-service training as needed.
  17. Attend training sessions as directed.
