Job summary

PACS is seeking a dedicated cook to manage and operate the kitchen when the Dietary Supervisor is away. The role ensures safe, clean facilities and prepares meals for residents with attention to menus and special diets.

The cook will record temperatures, help serve meals, and supervise dietary staff as needed. A high school diploma and ServSafe certification are required, with prior hospital or long-term care cooking experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience as a cook in a hospital or long-term care facility for a minimum of one year.
  • Must obtain and maintain ServSafe Certificate.
  • Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner.
  • Prepare tasteful meals and cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
  • Follow prepared menus and portion control guides.
  • Prepare special diets accurately.
  • Record food temperatures for meals.
  • Prepare pureed foods.
  • Work cooperatively with personnel in all departments.
  • Assist with serving the different meals.
  • Maintain cleaning schedules and supervise in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.
  • Present food in an appealing way to residents.
