Job summary

Mission Valley Post Acute is seeking a Dietary Cook to join our dining team. You will prepare nutritious, appetizing meals for residents, following approved menus and dietary guidelines.

You’ll work with the dietary team to ensure meals are served on time and meet individual dietary needs. This full-time role offers AM and PM shifts, competitive pay of $18.00–$20.00 per hour, and benefits for eligible employees.

Qualifications

  • Previous cooking experience in healthcare, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, institutional food service, or a similar setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic and modified diets is a plus.
  • Current Food Handler’s Certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to teamwork.
  • Compassionate approach when working with residents and healthcare team members.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and modify meals to accommodate special dietary needs, including diabetic, low-sodium, and texture-modified diets.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, infection control, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen.
  • Properly store, label, and rotate food items to maintain freshness and comply with food safety standards.
  • Assist with inventory and communicate food and supply needs to dietary leadership.
  • Support meal service and ensure proper portion sizes and presentation.
  • Work collaboratively with dietary staff, nursing, and other members of the care team.
  • Help ensure residents receive meals that are nutritious, appealing, and prepared according to their individual needs.

Position Details

Location: Mission Valley Post Acute
Pay Rate: $18.00–$20.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time
Shifts: AM & PM shifts available

About the Role As a Dietary Cook, you will play an important role in preparing nutritious, appetizing meals that meet our residents’ individual dietary needs. You’ll work closely with the dietary team to ensure meals are prepared safely, served on time, and provide a positive dining experience for our residents.
