Job summary

Vancrest of Urbana, Inc. is seeking a Dietary Cook to support high-quality dining services for residents. The role involves following menus, preparing meals, and coordinating with the dietician and supervisors to meet dietary needs.

An 18+ minimum is required, with wage starting at $14+ per hour and subject to experience and hiring manager review. The position includes working every other weekend and holiday.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to follow menus and dietary requirements.
• Willing to work every other weekend and holiday.

Responsibilities

• Review menus prior to preparation of food.
• Inspect special diet trays for correctness.
• Complete necessary forms/reports and submit to Director of Food Services.
• Coordinate dietary service with other departments as needed.
• Collaborate with Dietician and Supervisors to implement changes.
• Ensure dietary procedures follow established policies.
• Assist in establishing food service production lines to ensure meals are prepared on time.
• Process diet changes and new diets as received from Nursing Services and approved by the Director of Food Service.
• Perform dishwashing/cleaning procedures; ensure utensils are available for next meal.
• Assist in inventorying and storing incoming food and supplies.

Dietary Cook

Dining is an important part of life and at Vancrest, we strive to provide the highest possible quality dining experience while ensuring the most nutritional diet possible for each resident.

Cook Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing menus prior to preparation of food.
• Inspecting special diet trays to assure they are correct.
• Performing administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submitting to the Director of Food Services.
• Coordinating dietary service with other departments as necessary.
• Working with the facility's Dietician, Dietetic Technician and other Supervisors as necessary and implementing recommended changes as required.
• Assuring that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
• Assisting in establishing food service production line, etc., to assure that meals are prepared on time.
• Processing diet changes and new diets as received from Nursing Services and approved by the Director of Food Service.
• Performing dishwashing/cleaning procedures. Assuring that utensils, etc., are readily available for next meal.
• Assisting in inventorying and storing in-coming food, supplies, and other duties as requested
• Cooks are supervised by the Dietary Manager
