Job summary

Vancrest of Urbana, Inc. is seeking a Dietary Cook to prepare nutritious meals for residents, reviewing menus before cooking and ensuring diet trays meet prescribed diets.

You will collaborate with the facility's Dietitian and Dietary Manager, coordinate with other departments, and maintain food service procedures to support timely, high-quality meals.

This role supports resident wellbeing through careful meal preparation and ongoing diet changes as nursing staff request.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing menus prior to preparation of food.
• Inspecting special diet trays to assure they are correct.
• Coordinating dietary service with other departments as necessary.
• Working with the facility's Dietician, Dietetic Technician and other Supervisors as necessary and implementing recommended changes as required.
• Assuring that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
• Assisting in establishing food service production line, etc., to assure that meals are prepared on time.
• Processing diet changes and new diets as received from Nursing Services and approved by the Director of Food Service.
• Performing dishwashing/cleaning procedures. Assuring that utensils, etc., are readily available for next meal.
• Assisting in inventorying and storing in-coming food, supplies, and other duties as requested

Cook Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing menus prior to preparation of food.
• Inspecting special diet trays to assure they are correct.
• Performing administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submitting to the Director of Food Services.
• Coordinating dietary service with other departments as necessary.
• Working with the facility's Dietician, Dietetic Technician and other Supervisors as necessary and implementing recommended changes as required.
• Assuring that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
• Assisting in establishing food service production line, etc., to assure that meals are prepared on time.
• Processing diet changes and new diets as received from Nursing Services and approved by the Director of Food Service.
• Performing dishwashing/cleaning procedures. Assuring that utensils, etc., are readily available for next meal.

• Cooks are supervised by the Dietary Manager.
