Job summary

Moraga Post Acute is hiring a part-time dietary cook to join our dedicated kitchen team in Moraga, CA. You will prepare nutritious meals, follow therapeutic diets, and ensure safety standards while delivering quality resident dining experiences.

The ideal candidate has cooking experience in healthcare or similar settings, with a Food Handler's Certificate or plans to obtain one. Weekend/holiday availability is required; benefits are available for eligible staff.

Qualifications

• Healthcare dining experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with therapeutic diets and food safety preferred.
• Food Handler's Certificate required or obtainable upon hire.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to menus and dietary needs.
• Follow diabetic, low-sodium, mechanical soft, and pureed diets.
• Ensure proper portions and appealing presentation.
• Monitor food quality, freshness, and temperatures.
• Maintain food safety, sanitation, and infection control.
• Assist with meal tray prep and timely service.
• Label and rotate food and supplies properly.
• Keep kitchen clean, organized, and sanitary.
• Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, and workstations.
• Assist with inventory and supplies.

As a Dietary Cook, you will help prepare nutritious, appealing meals that meet residents' individual dietary needs while maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation.

Position Summary

The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking meals according to approved menus, standardized recipes, therapeutic diet requirements, and facility guidelines. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, team-oriented, and committed to providing excellent dining experiences for our residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and dietary requirements.
• Follow therapeutic and physician-ordered diets, including diabetic, low-sodium, mechanical soft, and pureed diets.
• Ensure proper portion sizes and appealing meal presentation.
• Monitor food quality, freshness, and proper food temperatures.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
• Assist with meal tray preparation and timely meal service.
• Properly store, label, and rotate food and supplies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations.
• Assist with inventory and supply management.
• Work collaboratively with the dietary team to ensure quality meals and excellent resident service.
• Follow facility policies and applicable health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience preferred, especially in healthcare, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or commercial food service.
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets and food safety practices preferred.
• Food Handler's Certificate required or must be obtained upon hire.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Dependable, punctual, and committed to quality resident care.
• Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
