Job summary

Mission Valley Post Acute is seeking a dependable Dietary Cook to join our food services team. This full-time role focuses on preparing nutritious meals that fit residents' dietary needs and enhance dining experiences.

You will collaborate with the dietary team to ensure safety, timely service, and high-quality meals. Prior healthcare food service is preferred; certification and strong teamwork are valued in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Healthcare dietary experience preferred.
• Certification upon hire or current Food Handler's Certificate.
• Knowledge of therapeutic and modified diets is a plus.
• Food safety and sanitation knowledge.
• Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines.
• Ensure meals meet residents' nutritional needs and physician-ordered diets.
• Modify meals to accommodate special dietary needs, including diabetic, low-sodium, and texture-modified diets.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, infection control, and workplace safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen.
• Properly store, label, and rotate food items to maintain freshness and comply with food safety standards.
• Assist with inventory and communicate food and supply needs to dietary leadership.
• Support meal service and ensure proper portion sizes and presentation.
• Work collaboratively with dietary staff, nursing, and other members of the care team.
• Help ensure residents receive meals that are nutritious, appealing, and prepared according to their individual needs.

Position Details

• Location: Mission Valley Post Acute
• Pay Rate: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
• Schedule: Full-Time
• Shifts: AM & PM shifts available

About the Role

As a Dietary Cook, you will play an important role in preparing nutritious, appetizing meals that meet our residents' individual dietary needs. You'll work closely with the dietary team to ensure meals are prepared safely, served on time, and provide a positive dining experience for our residents.

• Current Food Handler's Certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
