Job summary

Solaris HealthCare Merritt Island is seeking a cook to prepare nourishing meals in accordance with diet orders and menus. The role requires the ability to read and write, with preferred experience in a large-scale kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Operate kitchen equipment such as blender, mixer, fryer, slicer, steamer, ovens and steam table.
• Wash, peel, cut and prepare vegetables and fruits for use.
• Assist with special function meals and maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen.

Purpose of Your Job Position

The primary purpose of your job position is to prepare and serves nourishing and attractive meals and other foods as required to support the menu specific to diet orders and other center events, in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and Solaris HealthCare’s established policies and procedures.

• Reviews menus, production and prep guides to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared.’
• Prepares all meal items according to planned menus and standardized recipes in a sanitary manner to ensure the utmost in quality with a minimum of waste.
• Uses nutritionally equivalent substitutes when required.
• Operates a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, such as blender, mixer, fryer, slicer, steamer, food processor, convection oven, stove, conventional oven, steam table and tilt skillet.
