Solaris HealthCare Merritt Island is hiring caring individuals to prepare nourishing meals for residents, following diet orders and standards. The cook will use equipment like convection ovens and tilt skillets, support meal service, and ensure safety and quality in a large-scale kitchen.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 1–2 years of cooking experience; reading and writing are essential.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read and write required.
• One to two years as cook in a large scale cooking operation preferred.

• Prepare and serve nourishing meals per menus and diet orders.
• Follow standardized recipes in a sanitary, efficient manner.

Purpose of Your Job Position

The primary purpose of your job position is to prepare and serves nourishing and attractive meals and other foods as required to support the menu specific to diet orders and other center events, in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and Solaris HealthCare’s established policies and procedures.

• Reviews menus, production and prep guides to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared.’
• Prepares all meal items according to planned menus and standardized recipes in a sanitary manner to ensure the utmost in quality with a minimum of waste.
• Uses nutritionally equivalent substitutes when required.
• Operates a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, such as blender, mixer, fryer, slicer, steamer, food processor, convection oven, stove, conventional oven, steam table and tilt skillet.

• Wash, peel, cut, and shreds vegetables and fruits to prepare for use.
• Tests and observes food by tasting for palatability.

• Prepares and assists with special function meals.
• Completes work assignments.
