General Purpose

The dietary aide's assignments are determined based on the activity level during each shift. He/she reports to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor.

Essential Duties

1. Learn food service routines quickly.
2. Set up meal trays.
3. Strip down returned trays and wash dishes.
4. Assist with serving meals.
5. Check and record water temperature and chlorine concentration of the dishwashing machine at the start of each shift.
6. Monitor water temperatures during dishwashing cycles.
7. Operate the dishwasher.
8. Prepare nourishments and snacks.
9. Sweep and mop the kitchen.
10. Handle trash and garbage disposal.
11. Store groceries safely and neatly.
12. Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment and assist the cook or dietary supervisor as needed.
13. Clean work surfaces and refrigerators.
14. Participate in staff orientation and ongoing training.
15. Work cooperatively with personnel across all departments.

Supervisory Requirements

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Language Skills: Ability to read technical procedures and recipes; effectively communicate with managers and staff.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts like fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• Reasoning Ability: Capable of solving practical problems and interpreting instructions in various formats.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must obtain and maintain a food handler's certificate.

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand, walk frequently, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform other physical activities as described.
