Job summary

PACS is seeking a Dietary Aide to support meal preparation and service within our kitchen. The role requires learning food service routines quickly, preparing nourishment, and assisting with service while maintaining hygiene standards.

The position involves dishwashing, tray setup, and kitchen cleaning, with opportunities to participate in staff training and team cooperation across departments. High school diploma or equivalent and food handlers’ certification are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must obtain and maintain a food handlers’ certificate.
• Ability to read technical procedures.
• Ability to read and follow recipes.
• Ability to effectively present information to managers and employees.
• Mathematical skills: fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
• Reasoning ability: solve practical problems.
• Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.

Responsibilities

• Learn and adhere to food service routines quickly.
• Set up meal trays for service.
• Strip down returned trays and start washing dishes.
• Assist with serving meals.
• Check chlorine concentration and water temperature of the dishwashing machine at shift start.
• Monitor dishwasher water temperatures during cycles.
• Operate the dishwasher.
• Prepare nourishments and snacks.
• Sweep and mop the kitchen area and maintain floors.
• Disposal of trash and garbage; store groceries safely.
• Leave kitchen clean and sanitary; assist Cook or dietary supervisor as needed.
• Clean work surfaces and refrigerators; keep kitchen sanitary.
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
• Cooperate with staff across departments.
