Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to read, understand and follow recipe directions and diet orders.
• Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with interruptions.
• Numerical accuracy for recipe preparation and measuring cleaning agents; capable manual dexterity.
• Flexible hours including emergencies; patient and tolerant toward staff, residents, and families.

Responsibilities

• Perform defined work routines using dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned.
• Assist cook in preparation and service of meals.
• Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
• Follow federal and state long-term care regulations and Dietary Department policies.
• Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
• Arrange tray cards, load food carts and serve meals.
• Set up dining room and serve residents.
• Wash and store dishes.
• Report damaged fixtures or unsafe equipment; follow safety procedures.
• Assist in receiving and storing food supplies.
