Job summary

St. Bernard Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is seeking a dedicated kitchen team member to assist in food preparation, serving and maintaining clean, sanitary dining areas.

The role requires ensuring proper temperatures, portions, and cleanliness across tray lines and service areas. Applicants should hold a Food Handler's permit/ServSafe certification and be able to read, write, and follow directions in English, while delivering compassionate care to residents and families.

Qualifications

• Must have Food Handler's permit or ServSafe certification.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions in English.
• Ability to relate positively to residents, families and coworkers.
• Must pass drug screening, criminal background check and references.

Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation, serving, and maintaining clean and sanitary conditions in the kitchen and dining areas.
• Check that plate and hot base lowerator are heated, steam table is properly heated.
• Ensure accurate serving portions and food items on each tray before loading to the food cart.
• Ensure appropriate serving utensils are used; temperatures are within standards (logged and reviewed).
• During tray line, ensure trays are garnished, neatly arranged, silverware, cups, and dishes are clean and plate covers are dry.
• After tray-line, record excess/shortage preparation and discuss with supervisor.
