Job summary

U.S. Xpress, Inc. is seeking an automotive technician to inspect, service and repair tractors and allied components in our Duncan repair shop.

You will diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues, perform scheduled maintenance, inspect DOT compliance, and document all work in a timely manner. A strong toolbox, reliable transportation, and safety‑minded work habits are essential. Qualified applicants have a high school diploma or equivalent; a diesel technology diploma may substitute for

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical Diploma in Diesel Technology may substitute for 1 year of experience.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Basic computer skills helpful.
• Ability to read and write.

Responsibilities

• Test, service, and repair tractors and related mechanical components.
• Diagnose and repair transmission, engine, electrical, suspension, driveline, HVAC, brakes and air systems; may require assistance.
• Repair or replace bolt-on body parts such as hoods and cab extenders.
• Perform DOT inspections and prepare tractors for next driver.
• Complete DOT forms and documentation accurately and timely.
• Use diagnostic equipment and tools to troubleshoot issues.
• Drive trucks in and out of shop before and after repairs.
• Maintain a clean, productive work area and meet SRT timeframes.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and basic repairs on brakes, tires, wiring, etc.
