Job summary

U.S. Xpress, Inc. is seeking a diesel mechanic to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers in our Chicago-area repair shop.

You will inspect brakes, tires, and vehicle systems, change tires, grease parts, and help maintain high productivity while meeting safety standards. The role requires a valid driver’s license, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a diesel technology credential is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical Diploma from an accredited Diesel Technology Program preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of mechanical experience preferred.
• Experience in the transportation industry preferred; computer experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic preventative maintenance on tractors and trailers.
• Inspect and repair brakes, tires, wiring; check fluids.
• Change tires and grease mechanical parts; maintain productivity.
• Complete tasks within SRT times; perform other duties as assigned.
