Cummins in Dedham, MA is seeking a Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join the Distribution team. You will perform engine repairs, use diagnostic tools, and maintain records while following safety policies. You will also mentor junior technicians and pursue ongoing Cummins certifications.

The role includes a base salary with benefits; a strong focus on engine systems and aftertreatment knowledge, and maintaining your own tools.

Qualifications

• Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
• Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
• Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)
• This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

• Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools

Job description

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in Dedham, MA.

You will make an impact in the following ways:

• Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
• Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
• Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
• Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
• Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
• Maintain own tools

Responsibilities

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Completes complex internal engine repairs
• Performs complex unassisted engine overhauls
• Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools
• Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components
• Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Range $42.07 - $50.00 Base salary range commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

• Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
• Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
• Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)
• This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

• Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
• Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)

Qualifications

• Strong technical acumen in engine systems, diagnostics, and electronic service tools to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
• Effective communication skills to clearly convey technical information to customers and team members.
• Adaptability and initiative to handle diverse service environments and shifting priorities with confidence.
• Commitment to development through ongoing training and self-directed learning to stay current with Cummins technologies.

• A current valid license is required for this role
• Must be 18 years old with 2 years driving experience
• This role requires a 5-year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
• This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.
