Job summary

Cummins Inc. is hiring a Diesel Technician/Mechanic in Portland, OR. You will complete engine repairs in a service shop, perform diagnostics, and maintain detailed service records while mentoring junior technicians.

A CDL is required, and you will work on-site with relocation and a sign-on bonus considered as part of the package. We offer competitive pay, benefits, and opportunities for ongoing training to work with Cummins products.

Job description

Job Summary:

Completes troubleshooting, repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop independently while coaching and developing less experienced technicians

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in (Portland, OR).

Will make an impact in the following ways:

• Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
• Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
• Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
• Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
• Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
• Maintain own tools

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Completes complex internal engine repairs
• Performs complex unassisted engine overhauls
• Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools
• Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components
• Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation
• A current valid CDL is required for this role.
• This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free of major violations
• This role is subject to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) drug and alcohol testing requirements and on going random drug and alcohol testing
• This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
• This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
• Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
