Job summary

Penske Truck Leasing/Transportation Solutions in Chesapeake, VA is hiring a Technician to perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on a diverse fleet. You’ll learn Penske’s maintenance processes with modern tools and safety standards.

The role offers growth opportunities, strong training, and benefits. A high school diploma or technical certification, 1-2 years auto/diesel repair, and a valid license are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and 1-2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license required.
• The ability to solve problems and use tools.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• The ability to work well as part of a team and outdoors.
• Must understand and comply with Penske safety policies including DOT/OSHA requirements.
• Must pass drug screen and DOT-related checks as required.

Responsibilities

• Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.
• Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
• Performing preventative maintenance and repairs: tires, lubrication, some electrical and cooling system work.
• Partnering with management to learn new skills through Penske’s technician training.
• Working on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
