Job summary

Penske Truck Leasing/Transportation Solutions in Chester, NY is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on a broad fleet. You will log and diagnose using Penske tools and participate in hands-on training to advance your skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
• Basic mechanical aptitude and 1-2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred)
• Valid driver's license
• The ability to solve problems and comfort using tools
• Excellent customer service skills and communication skills
• The ability to work well as part of a team and outside
• Basic computer skills
• Understand and comply with Penske policies
• Able to pass DOT, OSHA and Penske safety requirements including DOT Drug Screen and FMCSA Clearinghouse
• Willingness to work the required schedule and travel for training

Responsibilities

• Maintaining vehicles and ensuring safety for customers
• Using Penske's tools to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
• Performing preventative maintenance such as tire rotation and lubrication, plus some electrical and cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel engines
• Partnering with management to learn new skills through Penske's technician training and hands-on coaching
• Handling other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
