Job summary

Penske Truck Leasing in Jackson, MS is seeking a Technician II to perform preventive maintenance and major/minor repairs on our fleet. You’ll work independently, log repairs, diagnose using diagnostic tools, and learn advanced Penske maintenance processes.

Qualifications

• 3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance required.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Specialized training and experience in diagnosis/troubleshooting major components; ASE Certification and 608/609 certifications preferred.
• Experienced using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• The ability to solve problems; excellent customer service and communication; teamwork.
• Willing to work in non-climate-controlled conditions.
• Basic computer skills.
• Understand and comply with Penske safety policies; DOT/OSHA guidelines; PPE usage.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential.
• DOT driving requirements include MVR check, DOT Physical, and FMCSA Clearinghouse review; CDL holders subject to drug screening.
• Willingness to travel within the district; work at required locations.

Responsibilities

• Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.
• Performing preventive maintenance on trucks and trailers with minimal supervision and timely execution.
• Repairing and troubleshooting engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, and fuel systems.
• Keeping work area clean and safe.
• Using Penske tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs; basic vehicle diagnostics.
• Learning new skills through Penske’s technician training.
• Working on other projects as assigned by supervisor.
