Job summary

Penske Truck Leasing in Somerset, KY is seeking an experienced Technician I to lead maintenance and repairs across a diverse fleet. You will diagnose, repair, and service engines, transmissions, differentials, and other major components while mentoring peers and adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

• 6 years of practical experience with truck and tractor-trailer maintenance.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Specialized training and experience in diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials); ASE Certification and 608/609 certifications preferred.
• Experienced using all tools of the trade (including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, and hand and power tools).
• Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
• The ability to solve problems, provide excellent customer service, and communicate well.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and adhere to safety policies (DOT/OSHA).
• DOT-regulated, safety-sensitive role with background checks and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Make sure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.
• Perform preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with minimal supervision and in a timely manner.
• Repair and troubleshoot major components (engines, transmissions, differentials); replace assemblies and related parts as needed.
• Keep the work area clean and safe.
• Use Penske tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
• Learn Penske's technician training and apply new skills.
• Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
