Job summary

Penske is hiring a Technician in Chicago to perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on a diverse fleet. You’ll diagnose and repair using Penske tools, ensuring vehicles stay safe and on the road.

You’ll learn hands-on via our technician training program and collaborate with experienced supervisors to grow your career. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and basic mechanical aptitude, with 1–2 years of repair experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and 1–2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to follow DOT/OSHA safety policies and wear PPE as required.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills; works well in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and ensure vehicle safety and reliability for customers.
  • Log, research, and complete repairs using Penske tools and technologies, including basic diagnostics.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and certain component replacements on gas and diesel engines.
  • Learn new skills through Penske’s technician training and hands-on coaching.
  • Collaborate with supervisor on additional projects and tasks.
