Job summary

Penske is seeking an entry-level Diesel Technician/Mechanic III in Chicago. Pay ranges from $26 to $29 per hour with an extra $2 shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts. You will perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on a broad fleet, using Penske tools and undergoing industry-certified training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• 1–2 years automotive or diesel repair experience preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and tool-handling skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Team player with ability to work outdoors.
• DOT/OSHA safety compliance knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and ensure vehicles are safe for customers.
• Log, research, and complete repairs using Penske tools; basic diagnostics.
• Perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs on gas and diesel engines.
• Learn new skills via Penske’s technician training and coaching.
• Collaborate with supervisor on other projects and tasks.
