Job summary

Penske in Garner, NC is seeking an entry-level Diesel Technician/Mechanic III. You will perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on a diverse fleet, using Penske tools and training to keep vehicles on the road.

You'll learn Penske’s maintenance processes, participate in industry-certified training, and grow your career while supporting a safe, reliable operation. A high school diploma or equivalent and basic mechanical aptitude are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and 1-2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).
• The ability to solve problems and comfort using tools.
• Excellent customer service skills and communication skills.
• The ability to work well as part of a team and outside.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must understand and comply with Penske safety policies including DOT/OSHA rules.

Responsibilities

• Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers.
• Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
• Performing preventative maintenance repairs such as tire rotation and lubrication.
• Learning new skills through Penske’s technician training and hands-on coaching.
• Willingness to travel within a near geography for training and occasional assignments.
