Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in San Diego, CA. Expect hourly pay of $38.18, with training and PPE provided. The schedule is Monday–Friday with weekends off, first shift 5:30 am–2:00 pm, and a focus on heavy duty vehicle diagnostics and repair.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification preferred.
• Basic tools required.
• Two years or more training/experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines preferred.
• CDL Class A preferred.
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools.
• Identifies root cause of basic failures and performs repairs as required.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of the complaint.
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Follows safety, DOT, MOT compliance guidelines.
• Performs other support duties to assist operations.
