Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Check trailer conditions after unloading to ensure no damage.
  • Crank trailer landing gear up or down to secure vehicles.

Job description

Summary: Knowledge of heavy-duty tires, oil, lube, filter, brakes, physical capability to perform such work. This position assists in ensuring quality control of all semi-truck and trailer equipment owned and leased, as well as other company owned vehicles. Inspect tires daily, repair and replace as needed. Do services as scheduled. Will be responsible for inventory and communicating well with others. This position is Monday-Friday, 7:00am-4:30pm. Exact hours are flexible.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Under minimal supervision, the Diesel Technician will be responsible for the following:

Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.

Report vehicle defects or damage to the vehicles.

Couple or uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting or disconnecting air or electrical lines, or manipulating fifth-wheel locks.

Check conditions of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage.

Crank trailer landing gear up or down to safely secure vehicles.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift 50lbs repeatedly or as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel; reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
