Job summary

Good Transport Services, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Duty Diesel Technician in Pennsylvania. The role involves repairing and maintaining both our fleet and external customer vehicles, covering diesel and non-diesel trucks. You will diagnose, rebuild, and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities include inspections, preventative maintenance, and safe operation of shop equipment. A 50-hour work week with overtime pay after 40 hours applies, Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years diesel technician experience.
  • Willingness to obtain Class A CDL and DOT PA Class 7 Inspection License during employment.

Responsibilities

The Heavy Duty Diesel Technician is responsible for performing repair and maintenance work on both the internal company fleet, and external customer vehicles, including both diesel and non-diesel trucks. The primary responsibilities include:

  • Diagnose, rebuild, and repair trucks and trailers (including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs)
  • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicles, as well as conduct routine service on heavy-duty vehicles
  • Effectively operate machinery, including, but not limited to: forklift, tire changer, overhead crane, various pneumatic tools, alignment machine, welders, and plasma cutter
  • Maintain a safe environment for self and team members
  • Serve in a rotating on-call schedule with all technicians

The regular schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM. This position is 50 hours/week, and is paid hourly with overtime pay after the first 40 hours.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years diesel technician experience
  • Valid Driver’s License at a minimum; willingness to obtain valid Class A CDL and DOT PA Class 7 Inspection License during the course of employment
  • Ability to perform general equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Must have own tools (Shop does provide larger tools to aid in repairs)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Post-secondary certificate or formal technician training
  • Valid Class A CDL and DOT PA Class 7 Inspection License
  • Welding and hydraulic experience
  • Paint and body work experience
  • Computer skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

In addition to the aforementioned qualifications, candidates must be able to meet the following expectations:

  • Ability to routinely use standard office equipment (i.e. computers, telephones, photocopiers, etc.)
  • Frequently required to sit, talk, hear, stand, walk, reach, stoop, and kneel
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight
  • Exposure to fumes of airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration
  • Exposure to high noise levels
  • Ability to handle “on the road” situations that develop (weather conditions, accidents, etc.)
  • Vision Requirements: close vision, distance vision, depth perception
