Job description

The Heavy Duty Diesel Technician is responsible for performing repair and maintenance work on both the internal company fleet, and external customer vehicles, including both diesel and non-diesel trucks. The primary responsibilities include:

• Diagnose, rebuild, and repair trucks and trailers (including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs)
• Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicles, as well as conduct routine service on heavy‑duty vehicles
• Effectively operate machinery, including, but not limited to: forklift, tire changer, overhead crane, various pneumatic tools, alignment machine, welders, and plasma cutter
• Maintain a safe environment for self and team members
• Serve in a rotating on‑call schedule with all technicians

The regular schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM.This position is 50 hours/week, and is paid hourly with overtime payafter the first 40 hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of 2 years diesel technician experience
• Valid Driver’s License at a minimum; willingness to obtain valid Class A CDL and DOT PA Class 7 Inspection License during the course of employment
• Ability to perform general equipment maintenance and repairs
• Must have own tools (Shop does provide larger tools to aid in repairs)

Preferred Qualifications

• Post‑secondary certificate or formal technician training
• Valid Class A CDL and DOT PA Class 7 Inspection License
• Welding and hydraulic experience
• Paint and body work experience
• Excellent customer service and communication skills

In addition to the aforementioned qualifications, candidates must be able to meet the following expectations:

• Ability to routinely use standard office equipment (i.e. computers, telephones, photocopiers, etc.)
• Frequently required to sit, talk, hear, stand, walk, reach, stoop, and kneel
• Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with minimal oversight
• Exposure to fumes of airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration
• Exposure to high noise levels
• Ability to handle “on the road” situations that develop (weather conditions, accidents, etc.)
