Job summary

Melton Truck Lines is seeking a Diesel Technician to diagnose and perform preventative maintenance on our fleet of tractors and trailers.

The shift is Tuesday–Saturday, 7am to 3:30pm, with responsibilities including brakes, oil changes, HVAC, electrical systems, troubleshooting, and accurate documentation of work performed.

Qualifications

  • Two years of heavy truck or diesel maintenance experience or a degree from technical school.
  • Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.
  • Physical requirements include: vision, hearing, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in heat/cold, and operate in a noisy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general truck and trailer maintenance.
  • Maintains brakes, oil/filter changes, wheel seals, HVAC, electrical, and fuel systems.
  • Performs troubleshooting on major problems.
  • Attends training sessions and meetings.
  • Keeps a neat and orderly work area and handles company tools properly.
  • Informs Leadman/Shop Foreman if additional repair work is needed.
  • Follows safety practices and shop regulations.
  • Completes paperwork documenting work performed on vehicles.

Job description

Our Diesel Technicians are responsible for performing diagnosis and preventative maintenance on our fleet of tractors and trailers.

The shift for this position is Tuesday - Saturday, 7am to 3:30pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Other duties as assigned

  • Performs and/or assists in the performance of general truck and trailer maintenance.
  • Major duties includes, brakes, oil/filter changes, wheel seals, HVAC, electrical, and fuel systems.
  • Performs trouble shooting on major problems.
  • Attends training sessions and meetings.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly working area, and proper handling of company tools.
  • Advises the Leadman/Shop Foreman if additional repair work is needed.
  • Follows safety practices and shop regulations.
  • Completes paperwork as required to accurately document the work performed on vehicles.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two years of heavy truck or diesel maintenance experience or degree from technical school
  • Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.
  • Physical requirements include: Near & midrange vision Hearing Ability to work alone and under stress. Walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting and reaching. Lifting Requirements: Lifting 50 lbs floor to waist Lifting 50 lbs floor to shoulder Lifting 50 lbs waist to shoulder. Carrying 50 lbs on a regular basis. Ability to use pneumatic tools. Using hands, wrists, elbows and shoulder for repetitive motion tasks. Ability to work in seasonal heat and cold; amidst noise, dust, and fumes. Must be able to climb a ladder up to heights of 13 feet.

CDL preferred – ability to move a semi in and out of shop.
